Hi, i have short to medium hair, its thickish which when i get my hair cut (usually a short back n sides) i ask them to thin it out as well.

I use a few different products, from gels to wax and also gum, i cant seem to get any proper stle the way i see everyone elses, i try using gel to spike my hair and i see eevryone else looking straight, spikey and even, but mine seems to clump together n curls a bit, does anyone have any recommedations, i usualy use my fingers to get it to spike up, and sometimes a comb but i just cant seem to get it even and straight.

Also, sometimes i use wax, to just ruffle it up, make it spike slightly at the back ect or just literaly mess it up, ive seen this done in vids ect and seen stylists do it n looks good but i an never seem to get the same looks but doin this it just looked messy, but not in the same way.

does anyone have any advice for both?

I would suggest doing it as soon as you get out of the shower and apply at least a tablespoon of gel throughout your hair and intentionally make it messy and blowdry it that way.

also if you're trying to spike the top blowdrying upside down also helps.
